Jay Jenkins was born on October 12, 1977 and is famously known by his stage name Young Jeezy. Young Jeezy is an American rapper.
Young Jeezy’s Early Life
Young Jeezy was born in Columbia, South Carolina. Jay Jenkins and his family shifted to Pine Hills when he was an infant. His parents separated when he was young. And that was the reason because he had stayed a lot at this grandmothers and aunt’s place. During this phase, he created a strong relationship with his elder cousins, who were drug dealers. Young Jeezy was attracted towards drug dealer’s way of living because his cousins use to share their earnings with him.
At the age of 12, Young Jeezy started selling drug in his neighborhood. In 1994, for possession of cocaine, he was arrested. Then he moved to West Atlanta in the end of 1999 when he was released. Young Jeezy. “Empty” is the word used by Young Jeezy to describe this childhood. Sonny Spoon, a georgai rap legend was his mentor but there relationship deteriorated over the years.
Music Career of Young Jezy
Young Jeezy’ first independent album Thuggin’ Under the Influence , was released under Lil J in 2001. Some of the tracks were produced by Lil J and also Fidank and Kinky B who featured in those tracks. Come Shop Wit’ Me was released in 2003 which was a 2 CD set featuring entirely new track from T.U.I.
Young Jeezy was signed by Bad Boy Records in 2004 and released a album on 21st June, 2005 which was self titled on the group Boyz n da Hood’s which he became a part of after signing the deal, and this album charted to number 5 on Billboard 200 albums. Young Jeezy also released his solo album Let’s Get It: Thug motivation 101, during this time. It was released on July 26, 2005, and debuted at number 2 and sold over 172,000 in first week alone. Lil Will, Slick Pulla, Lil Scrappy, Akon, Trick Daddy, young Buck, Lloyd Slick and Mannie Fresh were on guest appearances list.
Young Jeezy was never properly paid for his services. In a track “Stay Strapped” he described an incident about Gucci Mane defending him from the Mechanicville. Young Jeezy then released numerous tracks with many artists including Gucci Mane’s “Icy”and Boyz n da Hood’s “Dem Boyz”. Inter many records and interview, Young Jeezy he conveyed his opposition to commercialism of music by him.
In 2006 his second major album The Inspiration was released. And the first single peaked to number 14 on Billboard Hot 100. An album by rap group USDA was released by Young Jeezy in 2007, which laso included Blood Raw and Slick Pulla. Young Jeezy took part in a week long toy drive and charity which his CTE family and presented 1000 topys to 1000 kids at various places in Atlanta and Macon.
In 2008 this third album The Recession was released. Kanye West featured in the leading single “Put On”. Young Jeezy also featured in R&B single of Usher – “Love in this Club” which charted to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100.
Young Jeezy’s Personal Life
In starting hours of September 29,2007 Young Jeezy’s Lamborghini was hit by a taxi in Atlanta. And it was reported that this gave him a new positive reception for life. His son Jeezy was dating Keyshia Cole, a R&B artist.
Young Jeezy opened his home for victims in am attempt to help them to stay after Hurricane Katrina was hit.
Young Jeezy was arrested on March 12, 2006 after he was alleged shootout at Miami Beach involving some of his friends. For possessing a firearm without permit, he was charged with 2 counts but it was dropped due to lack of evidence. Police arrested him again for DUI in Atlanta on June 18, 2008.
